Nearly 1.5 lakh households with tap water supply under Jal Jeevan Mission in Nagaland

Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Around 1, 48,506 households in Nagaland have been provided with tap water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission – Har Ghar Jal mission from 2019 till date.

The Ministry of Jal Shakti, department of Drinking Water and Sanitation revealed that out of 1,990 schools, 1,973 schools had been provided with tap water supply, constituting 99.15% while the remaining target was just 17 (0.85%).

Meanwhile, out of the 3,980 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), 1,726 had tap water supply, which is a total of 43.37% while the remaining target as reported was 2, 254 (56.63%).           

The department reported that the number of Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) in rural areas in the country till date stands at 8, 92,33,577,  out of which 97 districts are 100% FHTC, 1,111 100% FHTC blocks, and 1,33,652 villages are 100% FHTC.

According to the data, Wokha district in Nagaland ranked number one in the state and 250 at national-level with 16,061 (61.40%) FHTC out of the 26, 158 households. Kiphire district ranked second in the state and 294 at the national level with a coverage of 8097 (54.01%) FHTC out of 14, 991 households.

Phek ranked third in the state and 303 at the national-level covering 17,298 (52.43%) out of 32,992 households.

Meanwhile, Peren district was ranked 11th in the state and 507 at the national level with 6,227 (27.12%) FHTC coverage out of 2, 964 households.   

Moreover, zero Har Ghar Jal district was reported in the state, zero Har Ghar Jal blocks, 222 Har Ghar Jal Panchayats, 222 Har Ghar Jal villages, and 222 Har Ghar Jal habitations. The remaining target for Nagaland is to provide 2,28,780 (60.64%) FHTC.
