Dimapur, Oct. 6 (EMN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has demanded the Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, who will be on a two-day visit to the state, “for implementation of political solution for Nagaland”.

In a letter addressed to the vice president, NPCC president K Therie wrote that “since Nagaland state stakeholders have accepted the ‘Agreed Points’ (Agreed Positions) between GoI and 7 NNPGs in principle, we demand to finalise details and implement the solution in cold storage for Nagaland.”

He reminded that the government of India (GoI) had signed the Framework Agreement with the NSCN (IM) in 2015 and the Agreed Positions with the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) in 2017, before the interlocutor declared on October 30 in 2019 that the Naga political talks had concluded.

“Interlocutor thereafter have consulted stakeholders, represented by all 14 tribal hohos (organisations in Nagaland), All Gaon Buras Federation of Nagaland. All political parties and prominent civil societies in the state, have endorsed in principle for implementation of agreed points,” read the letter.

“However on 3′ August 2021 Chief Minister of Nagaland made a statement in the Assembly that, Govt has not rejected the demand of NSCN (IM); -flag, constitution and integration and shall be persuaded, post agreement, rendering meaningless to all the above proceedings. In view of the statement, the 60 Members of State Assembly have resolved, demanding to resume talk,” it added.

However, he claimed that “talks are over” in the case of Nagaland, and thus demanded solution for the state based on the Agreed Positions signed between the GoI and WC, NNPG.
