Dimapur, September 26 (EMN): Netflix, at its Tudum event, clearly showed that it wants to expand on The Witcher universe. The streaming giant dropped three new trailers from season 2 of ‘The Witcher’ and confirmed that fans will get to see the third season of its hugely popular adapted fantasy series.

Additionally, fans got a behind-the-scenes tour of the set of The Witcher: Blood Origin, a six-part live-action prequel series starring Michelle Yeoh.

The first trailer called Road to Season 2, shows us a recap of the first season’s most important events and gives us a glimpse into what will happen when Geralt takes Ciri to Kaer Morhen.

The other two trailers are ‘First Look’ clips from season 2. The first one shows Geralt having a conversation with old friend Nivellen, played by Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju. The second one shows us the blossoming relationship between Geralt and Ciri that will most probably be explored in season 2.

It has been confirmed that the opening episode of season 2 will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s short story A Grain of Truth. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich explained in a teaser, “It’s a story of a father and daughter coming together in a place that doesn’t quite feel safe for them.”

“And of course, we really get into Nivellen, who’s played by the incomparable Kristofer Hivju. And we get to explore his character and his backstory with Geralt as well. It’s really the perfect kickoff for season 2 because it’s about family, it’s about the secrets we keep from each other, and it’s about the monsters that we are inside sometimes,” she said.

Besides the new trailers, Netflix also revealed plans for a second anime movie and a series “designed for kids and families.”

The first season of The Witcher debuted in 2019 and it became a huge hit for Netflix. The streaming giant claimed that the series was watched by 76 million households, making it the most-watched first season of television ever for Netflix.

The second season of The Witcher is scheduled to release on December 17.
