Dimapur, Sep. 21 (EMN): Libemo Memorial School in Wokha observed the ‘International Day of Peace’ in the school campus on September 21 with Chonpenthung Ezung, SDO (C), Wokha, as the special guest on the theme ‘Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world.’
Speaking on the occasion, Ezung advocated adopting new ways of life stating that life is no longer normal due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He also encouraged the students to be role models by bridging the gap on social-religious life in the district in particular and the state in general and to bring about mutual understanding among the public.
On global warming/ climate change, he urged the students to play their parts to mitigate the effects of global warming and bring about change in the society.
Observing that the plantation level was going down, while the destruction level was going, he encouraged all to plant more trees and preserve the forest. He further appealed to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
The program was chaired by Nchemongi, LMS guide captain, while the welcome address was delivered by its principal, Surojit Mitra. A song was presented by Wondangbeni Kikon, student of class 12, while the vote of thanks was delivered by T Zuchanthung Lotha, ADO (Scout), BS&G, Wokha.
