The general manager of Network-II of State Bank of India (SBI), North Eastern Circle, Guwahati, L Thangboi, in association with SBI Foundation, donated medical equipment to Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) to fight Covid-19 pandemic on Saturday.

The medical equipment including 50 ICU beds and 50 oxygen cylinders worth INR 39,99,713 was handed over to CIHSR director, Dr. Sedevi Angami.

During a brief handing over ceremony, Thangboi said that the country was passing through a traumatic time because of the Covid pandemic. According to him one of the main issues was the shortage of ICU beds and oxygen in hospitals. He added that the pandemic had made people aware of the importance of oxygen generation plants.

He informed that in the month of May 2021, the bank received a proposal from CIHSR. He added that it was through the SBI foundation that they could provide medical equipment to the hospital and hoped that it would go a long way in helping people during this critical time.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sedevi Angami stated that lack of oxygen and ICU beds during the pandemic has been a problem adding the hospital has been expanding the capacity of beds and oxygen for a more comfortable fight against the anticipated third wave.

Angami further added that the contribution of SBI in the form of medical equipment would be helpful for the state as well as the entire region.
