A three-day intensive programme of the National Service Scheme (NSS) second batch on leadership and personality development through life skills concluded on Saturday at St. Joseph University, Dimapur.

The regional director of NSS, North East Region, Guwahati, Dipak Kumar, during an interaction with media persons, informed that the pre-republic camp was to select participants for Republic Day camp in New Delhi. He added that they would select 14 volunteers including seven boys and seven girls from across Nagaland for the pre-republic camp.

He also informed that a ten-day pre- republic day camp this year would be held in Assam from October 23 to November 1.

He shared that during the one-month Republic Day camp, NSS volunteers get the honour to meet the President, Prime Minister and Vice President of India. They also attend the intellectual session and also enjoy the colourful cultural exchange programme.

He further stated that the training programme on leadership and personality development is good as the participants get an opportunity to understand the 10 life skills.

Zeneikho-o Pfukha, state NSS officer, NSS cell Nagaland, shared that during the first batch training, 40 NSS volunteers participated and in the second batch in Dimapur, 46 NSS volunteers from 19 different colleges participated.

He also updated that 36 volunteers including three from Kohima, two from Zunheboto, one from Pfutsero, two from Peren and six form Dimapur from both the batches were selected for pre-republic day camp.

Sister Thiames DMI, deputy registrar of St. Joseph University, Dimapur, has appreciated the NSS team saying that it was a great opportunity for students. He added that the university is not only focussing only on education alone but in other fields as well.

The first batch of the three-day intensive programme was held from September 9 to the 11th at St. Joseph College, Jakhama.
