Selection trials for national archery championship held in Kohima
Kohima, Sep. 11 (EMN): The selection trail for the 40th Sahara Senior National Archery Championship was held at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) Kohima on Saturday.
Altogether, 19 archers took part in the selection trials for the Nagaland team at the state capital including two international archers Kilenmeren and Kevikieno Rikha, according to press release from Hunezo Thisa State Junior Coach (Archery) Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland.
Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Chekrovolu Swuro who was also present on the occasion encouraged the state archers to give their best in their attempts in order to prepare well and focus for the next Paris Olympic 2024.
While pointing out that Nagas got the skills and talents to compete in the international level, she exuded confidence that archers could do much better and win an Olympic medal with the support of the Nagas and the state government.
Further, she also conveyed her best wishes to the Nagaland Archery team for the upcoming competition.
The selected archers in the recurve division for men are Keneisao, Teisovi Lohe, Kilen Meren, Mathung.
Meanwhile, recurve women’s division are Kevikieno Rikha, Edikunu Rikha, Ruovinuo Theunuo, Rovine Domeh.
For compound (men) division are Thenuhielie, Vehuyi, Ruyonu, Besuvezo and compound women division are Vetavolu, Vetolu, Neikesa Sakhrie.
The selected archers will continue to undergo coaching camp at Kohima and will be moving out on October 2 for the said competition. The coaches will be Besuta Vero, Y Kaiyong , Neisevotuo Terhase, and Hunezo Thisa.
