High Court stays Nagaland government’s departmental exams notice

Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has suspended the government of Nagaland’s office Memorandum empowering the 76 departments to conduct recruitment examinations.

An update from the Rising People’s Party (RPP) stated that the court had served a notice to the state government to file a reply on the matter within four weeks.

The ruling was in response to the public interest litigation (PIL) filled by RPP against the notification of Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) to conduct departmental exams and immediate implementation of Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB).

Counsel for the petitioners, Neiteo Koza stated that the NSSB was already constituted, enacted and effective from the day it was notified in the Nagaland Gazette on July 31, 2020.

“Therefore the motive in keeping the NSSB non-functional for such a long period seems intentional and questionable,” the RPP stated.

“The RPP makes its stand clear that all recruitments to posts that fall under Group-C must be conducted through the NSSB for fairness and transparency and for which reason the NSSB has been constituted as a long standing demand of the people,” it added.
