CFPB reports a record 382 ten-digit finger print slips of convicted persons

Dimapur, June 17 (EMN): The Central Finger Print Bureau (CFPB) reported a record 382 ten-digit finger print slips of convicted persons as on December 31 2019.

This was recorded and published in the CFPB 23rd edition of ‘Finger Prints in India 2019’ under the aegis of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). This was updated on Feb. 26 2021.

The 23rd edition presents the annual performance report for the calendar year 2019 of the Central and state/UT Finger Print Bureaux (SFPBx) including the activities, achievements, database status, trainings undertaken, to name a few.

The figure of the finger print transactional activities of CFPB and state fingerprint bureaux is based on the receipt from the Finger Print Bureaux of the state and also from the police station.

As per the CFPB, the Finger Print division in Nagaland functions under the control of Forensic Science laboratory and it was established in Dimapur on Feb. 26, 1982. The bureau is headed by the joint director under the control of Inspector General of Police CID, Nagaland. ZYGOX PC, Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) was installed on Aug. 4 2003.

The current AFIS installed is NEC 3.06(NG) and the state  is yet to procure live scanners in the state finger print bureaux.

The available scientific tools and equipment at finger print bureau are latent print special kit, poly ray, Iodine fuming chamber and AFIS.
