Xiaomi claims new HyperCharge tech can fully charge your phone in eight minutes
Dimapur, May 31 (EMN): Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi announced on Monday that its new HyperCharge tech has broken world records in wired and wireless charging.
The Chinese brand took to Twitter to announce its latest developments in wired and wireless fast charging technology.
Xiaomi used a modified M11 Pro with a 4,000 mAh battery (the normal M11 Pro has a 5,000 mAH battery) to test its new HyperCharge technology. Xiaomi says that tests on the modified M11 Pro with its new HyperCharge fast charging technology showed that the phone was able to charge from 0 to 50 per cent in 3 minutes and 23 seconds and reached 100 per cent in 8 minutes using a 200W charging adapter.
A different test with a 120W wireless adapter showed that the phone took 7 minutes to reach 50 per cent and 15 minutes to hit 100 per cent.

This breakthrough in fast charging seems to be more of a market ploy than an actual product. Vivo recently demonstrated its fast charging tech using its 120W fast charger to fully charge a 4,000 mAH battery in under 15 minutes. Similarly, we have seen OPPO unveil its new 65W AirVOOC fast charging tech that claims to wirelessly charge a phone with a 4,000 mAh dual-cell battery in under 30 minutes.

Although, the news of better fast charging technology is going to be exciting news for tech enthusiasts, however, do not expect these ultra-fast charging techs to come into the consumer market soon. Even now, Xiaomi‘s own 120W fast charge is only available for a single device — Mi 10 Ultra. Add to the fact that charging batteries at these crazy speeds will not be kind to the longevity of the battery, it seems this is just a sneak peek into the future of battery chargers, albeit a positive one.
