Dimapur, April 10 (EMN):
The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) is celebrating its Platinum Jubilee in 2022 with a difference by setting up a college in commemoration of the occasion.

The foundation stone of the institute, to be named Platinum College, was laid by the minister of PHED, N Jacob Zhimomi, at WSBAK Resource Centre in Nihokhü village, on Saturday.

Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, Executive Secretary of WSBAK, told Eastern Mirror that ‘they want to establish a college by the name Platinum College in commemoration of platinum jubilee and it will be solely contributed by the believers of 170 churches under WSBAK’.

He shared that the theme of the college is “posterity”, as in to build the young future generation. Informing that the construction work has started, he expressed hope that they would be able to complete at least five buildings before the jubilee event.

‘Our celebration will be in December 2022, and before that at least five building should come up including one administrative building, one boys and girls hostel each, one dining hall and one church building,’ he stated.

He also informed that the estimated budget of the college building is INR 10 crore.

Speaking at the programme, Zhimomi said that 75 years of church establishment is a big achievement and expressed hope that establishing a college for the future is commendable.

‘Education is the best investment, and the best thing our generation can give to the future generation,’ he said. Terming it an ambitious project, he said that “we need full dedication to strive for the younger generation to lead people”.

The minister further encouraged the people to focus on community development and asks the leaders and elders ‘to be an example’ and ‘walk the talk’.

‘This is all part of God’s plan, and as we lay the foundation of Platinum College, let us all join hands to make this successful,’ he told the gathering.
