Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Childline Dimapur conducted a workshop on Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act 2012 and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act 2015 on March 29.
The workshop was organised for GBs and council chairs under GB Union Sadar, Dimapur and Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation at DC’s conference hall in Dimapur, anupdateon Monday informed.
Boduve Peter Resu, judicial magistrate, Dimapur and Lozua Kape, centre coordinator, Childline Dimapur were the resource persons for the workshop.
In the first session, Resu presented on the Pocso Act 2012 and its various sections and provisions. He stressed on the responsibility of every concerned and responsible adult towards the protection and safety of children. He added that the role of GB’s and council chairmen as leaders of the society played an important role in protecting children and ensuring their rights are safeguarded.
During the second session Lozua Kape made a brief presentation on the roles and functions of Childline 1098 and made references on some case studies on child abuse intervened by Childline Dimapur. She further presented on child protection committees at ward/colony level and highlighted the roles, functions, responsibilities and the objectives of the committees, it stated.
K Ela, collaboration director, Childline Dimapur, delivered the concluding remarks at the end of the workshop. She stressed on the responsibility of every in reporting every case on child abuse to the concerned authority. She also expressed gratitude to all the participants and urged all to take the message to their colonies and educate people at different levels.
Neiketulie Namdal, nodal co-ordinator, Childline Dimapur, chaired the event, it added.
