DNSU to hold candlelight vigil on Jan. 31

Dimapur, Jan. 29 (EMN): The Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has announced to organised a candlelight vigil in memory of its two members namely Bendangnunsang Longkumer and Khriesavizo Metha on January 31 at Diphupar village gate.

This was announced during a press conference by Diphupar Naga Students Union (DNSU) president Mhasizolie Angami at DNSU office on January 29.

At the press conference, former president of DNSU, Pitovi Achumi said that the annual B&K memorial awards were held in memories of late Bendangnungsang Longkuner and  Khriesavizo Metha, who had laid down their lives during the ULB imbroglio on January 31, 2017.

Achumi added that it was a movement of Nagas as a whole. He stated that the awards were initiated in their honour for sacrificing their lives  for the Naga society. He asserted that the programme is being initiated in acknowledging their sacrifice towards the society.

Achumi also highlighted that unlike past years, the event would be held at Diphupar village gate at 5 pm with a small gathering. He added that the award ceremony would be held virtually without the physical presence of the awardees.

Achumi further informed that awards would be conferred to those excelling in the field of music, literature, entrepreneur, promoter, sports, young achiever, art etc.
