Viswema, Jan. 29 (EMN): Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, Zale Neikha, has urged the youth of Viswema to rededicate and recommit themselves for the welfare of the village.
He was speaking during the 75th anniversary celebration of Viswema Youth Organisation (VYO) as the guest of honour at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School at Viswema village under Kohima district on Friday.
While dwelling on the platinum jubilee theme “Tapayalo” (meaning Come forward), he urged the youth to get rid of laziness but strive for survival. Neikha stated that village life is better off today in terms of wealth, education and employment in the government sector with many officers. He, however, reminded the villagers to continue progressing. He has also urged the youngsters to strive towards achieving higher goals in order to bring good names to the village.
Reminding the youth to do away with jealousy, discriminatory attitude or grudge against one another, he implored upon them to appreciate and provide support to anyone in times of need. He also spoke about the dangers of “ism” in the community and reminded not to be tempted with negative thoughts as it could have adverse effects in the long run.
While expressing happiness on the villagers for coming a long way in maintaining cleanliness within the village, the legislator further urged upon them to set an example for other villages to emulate. He also urged the villagers to come together with whatever little capacity they could contribute for the welfare of the village.
Mentioning that Viswema, the biggest village in the Southern Angami region which boasts of magnificent mountains such as the Mt. Tempü, Neikha reminded the villagers to undertake organic farming saying that the village is blessed with rich natural resources.
With the given natural resources for organic farming in the area, the legislator also emphasised on reviving the work culture in order to boost the economy of the villagers. He also conveyed the message of the Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, who has congratulated all those who have played an important role in the journey of the youth organisation since its inception.
“Even as we celebrate the crossing of such a major landmark, it is also an occasion to look back, and reflect and pay homage to the founders of the organisation who must have made significant sacrifices during very challenging times,” Rio said.
While taking inspiration from the founders, he urged the youth to make all possible efforts towards economic sustainability in the Naga society.
“A nation and a people can only grow when all its citizens can realise the responsibility of collective nation building,” the note read.
Earlier, Neikha unveiled the platinum monolith at Nhamerüro along the National Highway at Viswema, which was blessed by Nosezol Valeo, pastor of Christian Revival Church, Viswema.
75 warriors also welcomed the guests to the venue after firing 75 gunshots to commemorate the platinum jubilee.
