Dimapur, Dec. 21 (EMN): Lozaphuhu village in Phek district has unveiled a WW II memorial monolith in commemoration of the US army camp in the village. The monolith was inaugurated by the head GB Vedusayi Rhakho in the presence of the village residents on December 19, while the dedicatory prayer was said by Rev. Kevengo-i Sakha.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zhokusheyi Rhakho stated that it was one of the few US army camps during WW II in the then Naga Hills and the last one before entering Myanmar, an update from the village council stated. He further said that the monolith was erected to preserve the vital piece of historical information which has been laying embedded in the oral history of the village.
It also stated that an official website of the Lozaphuhu village council was launched by the head GB with an objective to make the information about the village accessible to anyone including the tourists, students, researchers, government agencies etc.
