Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): The 173 battalion CRPF based at Dimapur Airfield conducted a civic action programme at Chümoukedima by distributing various agricultural tools to the farmers of the area on November 10.
Speaking on the occasion, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Manipur and Nagaland Sector and chief guest, Randeep Datta, underlined the need of such programmes to bridge the gap between security forces and the local populace.
Earlier on the occasion, Datta also laid the foundation stone for the battalion camping site of 173 battalion CRPF where a full-fledged CRPF unit headquarters is to be established shortly at Chümoukedima in Dimapur district on an area measuring 50.15 acres.
Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), government of India, has already accorded approval for construction of staff quarters, administrative blocks, hospitals, quarter guard, playground, men’s club in the said project for a battalion camping site. Initial survey and preliminary estimates have already been done for constructions of boundary walls, an update from the 173 battalion CRPF stated.
In his brief speech about the project, Datta stated that with the proposed development project in the near future, there would be a huge impact to the people especially in terms of economic and developmental activities in Chümoukedima area in particular and Dimapur district in general.
The programme was attended by Syamchand De, DIGP (Ops) Kohima; Vishnu Gautam, CO-173 Bn; Thejavizo, SDO Chümoukedima; Razouvotuo, chairman of Chumukedima Village Council; Gaonburas and prominent public leaders and media fraternity. More than 200 families were benefitted through the civic action programme, the statement read.
