Dimapur, Nov. 4 (EMN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has revised rate of pork that would come into force with immediate effect. This was stated in an order issued by DMC administrator Albert Ezung.

The price revision of pork was necessitated following a joint representation submitted by the pork dealers (wholesalers) of Dimapur for the enhancement of rate from the existing rate. Accordingly, the rate was revised taking into consideration the prevailing market situation, the order stated.

According to the revised rate, the price of pork for wholesale has been fixed at INR 170 per kg, while retail (dressed) would cost INR 250 per kg and INR 200 per kg for offal (head, hoof, intestine).

The order also stated that the prescribed rate is the maximum amount fixed by the DMC and is subjected to review from time to time.

Butchers are also directed to maintain hygiene in their respective stalls and provide quality meat to the customers.

It further warned that failure to comply with the order would compel the DMC to take appropriate action as per provision of the act.
