Nagaland: Cosmos festival to find place in Tourism department calendar

Kohima, Oct. 23 (EMN): Deputy Director of Tourism, Veyielo Doulo informed that Cosmos festival would be included in the calendar of the Tourism department.

Doulo stated this during an event of ‘Cosmos Kaleidoscope Reseeding Pfutsero Town’ on the theme ‘My beautiful Pfutsero,’ organised by Kalos Society in association with the state Tourism department, office of the additional deputy commissioner, Pfütsero, and Pfütsero police on October 23 at High School Auditorium, Pfutsero.

Speaking on the occasion, Duolo said that the town has good opportunity not only in terms of economy but also in ‘social senses’. He mentioned that there was a time when animals and nature were destroyed, driven by sheer greed.

According to him beauty of nature without animals is incomplete. He advocated preserving the flora and fauna in their efforts to conserve the environment.

He further mentioned that Pfustero can be a base camp for tourists as it has so many things to offer. He said that tourists can have so many activities visiting the neighbouring villages and other places. He further encouraged the Kalos Society to start a tour package to promote the area.

Presenting a concept note, Weto Kapfo stated that Pfutsero is a small but peaceful and beautiful town. He said it is home to the historic World War II Japanese hiding cafe, a ravishing frozen lake Wedzüsobe, a beautiful gentle slopes and small hillocks to steep fall Kapamadzu hills- all walk able distance from Pfutsero.

He shared that Pfutsero was called the town of cosmos. He, however, stated as the town grew and human activities have deterred the growth of the flower and it slowly faded away since 1980s. He stated that Kalos Society, a non-profit organisation, was formed in 2005 at Pfutsero with the task to revive and reseed cosmos.

To revive the once popularly known cosmos town, which appealed to the imagination of its citizens and nearby villages, he said Kalos Society planned a mission to reseed Pfutsero and its adjoining areas. He exuded confidence that the vision and mission to reclaim the beauty of the township and adjoining areas would once again inspire and comfort the hearts of its people as well as travellers and visitors.

The event included with competitions on Cosmos landscape, Cosmos photography on the theme ‘Evincing cosmos,’ poetry on ‘Colours of Pfütsero,’ colony cleanliness/ beautification, videography on the theme ‘Pfütsero in motion,’ painting on ‘Adorn Pfütsero,’ quartet on the song ‘It is my beautiful Pfutsero’ by Subongmiba Aonok and solo on the song ‘Pfütsero’ by Methaneilie Jütakhrie.

In Cosmos landscape competition, Pfutseromi village won the first prize, while the other winners are Lewoza village, Leshemi village, Seedfarm colony, and PWD colony.

In poetry competition, Neipeu Mero won the first prize, while Chewele Kapfo and Kululu Tunyi won the second and third prizes respectively.

In quartet competition, Vetsokholu and friends won the first prize, while Rukuwe Lomi and friends and Tepre Wetsah and friends won the second and third prizes respectively.

In the painting competition, Quite Khalo won the first prize, while Wachovia Mekru and Co-u Lomi won the second and third prizes respectively.

In photography (mobile) competition, Kezuvehu Khamo won the first prize, while the second prize was bagged by Wetsuzu Kapfo and the third by Dekhohu Vero.

In photography (DSLR) competition, Vietsholo Sono won the first prize, while John Kapfo and Pharhetho Nyusou won the second and third prizes respectively.

In solo competition, Velu Lohe won the first prize, while Wekhrolo Shimray and Lezou Khupfu won the second and third prizes respectively.

In videography competition, Pharhetho Nyusou won the first prize, while Kezuvehu Khamo won the second prize and the third position went to Sezokho Tetse-o.

In the colony cleanliness and beautification competition, Seedfarm won the first prize, while PWD, Tese and Zhipa won the second, third and fourth prizes respectively.

In the blooming category of flowers exhibition, Shetsolu Chuzho won the first prize, while Vetolu Khamo and Thejosulu Puro won the second and third prizes respectively. In the evergreen category Kuvolu Puyoo won the first prize, while the second position went to Lhiwepeu Wetsah and third place to Vekhozolu Losou.

In the succulent category, Asang Khutso won the first prize followed by Chepeu Khutso in the second position and the third prize was jointly shared by Azole Khalo and Kuthozulu Rose.
