Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2 loses actor due to Covid-19 scheduling problems
Dimapur, Sept. 25 (EMN): Production for Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2 has already started but actor Thue Rasmussen has dropped out of the series citing scheduling conflict due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Rasmussen was set to play Eskel, another Witcher like Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of the series, played by Henry Cavill.
However, Rasmussen took to social media to announce his exit from the project after production was rescheduled.
He explained to fans that it was a “heartbreaking” decision and that he was very “grateful” for the days he spent on-set prior to the lockdown.
In his post, he thanked his fans for their support and praised everyone involved in the production, calling his time on the project “a truly inspiring experience.”
Rasmussen added: “I wish everyone on the show the best of luck with the rest of production. I’m sure Season 2 will be absolutely amazing and now I get to watch it as a fanboy instead of as a Witcher.”
For those of you who have played the game, you will know exactly who Eskel is from CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. At the moment it is unknown who will take up the role of Eskel.
Season 2 of The Witcher started filming in London earlier this year after the resounding success of the first season.
Launched on Netflix the previous year, the series was an instant hit and soon became the most in-demand TV series in the world.
“Through its first four weeks of release, 76 million member households chose to watch this action-packed fantasy, starring Henry Cavill,” Netflix said in its Q4 Earnings Report.
According to Netflix, the popularity of the series drove up sales of The Witcher books, games and related merchandise around the world.
It also spawned a viral musical hit, “Toss a coin to your Witcher.”
Season 2 of The Witcher is planned for release sometime in 2021.
