Everybody has a role in containing spread of Covid-19, says Dr. Akaho Sema
Dimapur, Sep. 1 (EMN): Deputy Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Zunheboto Dr. K Akaho Sema said everybody has a role to play in containing spread of Covid-19.
Speaking at a sensitisation meeting-cum-anti-stigma and discrimination on Covid-19 at the Government High School, Akuluto on August 30, Dr. Sema said: “Let’s be kind to each other and help stop the spread of coronavirus. Let’s support our family, friends, neighbours and frontline responders in the fight against Covid-19”.
He also said all have a role to play in protecting the physical and mental health of oneself and others during this crisis while adding that the only weapon to fight this disease is by wearing mask, proper hand washing and social distancing.
According to Dr. Sema, level of stigma associated with Covid-19 is based on three main factors: A disease that is new and for which there are still many unknown, afraid of the unknown and easy to associate that fear with others.
Stating that there is confusion, anxiety and fear among the public, he said ‘coronavirus is here to stay with us and we’ve to learn to live with it’ and further sought public co-operation in fighting the virus.
Briefing the meeting, Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, DPO (RCH &UIP) spoke on the importance of vaccination for children. She encouraged all to be responsible and motivated the patients to get vaccine for the children on time.
