Essay writing contests mark ‘World Day Against Human Trafficking’ in Peren

Dimapur, Aug. 1 (EMN): Commemorating the ‘World Day Against Human Trafficking in Persons,’ the district-level centre for women under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP), in collaboration with the Peren district administration, organised an online essay competition on the topic “Break the silence, break the chains” on July 30.

Altogether, 12 persons comprising students from Classes IX to XII have participated in the competition, a DIPR report stated on Saturday.

On behalf of the deputy commissioner, Peren, the EACs of Peren and Jalukie handed over the prizes to the best three winners. The first prize was bagged by Lemchila from Government Higher Secondary School, Peren, while the second prize was won by Suiyidaule from Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and the third prize was won by Iheichu Haibwang from Government Higher Secondary School, Peren. The winners walked away with a cash prizes of INR 3000, INR 2000 and INR 1000 respectively.

In a separate programme, the Peren administration, in collaboration the Childline, Peren, organised a stickers campaign-cum-distribution of free sanitary mask on the theme “Committed to the cause – working on the frontline to end human trafficking.” The programme was organised with the participation of all the frontline workers and general public on July 30 at Jalukie town as part of the ‘World Day Against Human Trafficking.’ During the programme, the women welfare officer of Peren and centre coordinator, Childline Peren, along with the team sensitised the public on dos and don’ts, safety measures of public hygiene and social distancing.
