Another surge in Covid-19 cases; Nagaland’s tally at 896

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): Fifty-one new cases on Tuesday took Nagaland’s Covid-19 tally to 896, according to an official update.

According to Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, the total active cases were 550. So far, 346 patients have recovered.

“As per the severity of symptoms, 535 active cases are asymptomatic and 15 active cases are mild. Till date, a total of 16,871 samples have been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 16,631 samples have been received. Out of the 16,631 samples, a total of 10,714 samples have been tested at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) and at the BSL-2 lab at the CIHSR, Dimapur and out of which 565 samples have tested positive.

“In addition, a total of 10,555 samples have been sent for testing on TrueNat. 9,981 samples have tested negative, and 312 samples have tested positive which have been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR. A total of 3,049 persons are presently under facility quarantine,” Sinha said in his daily briefing.

The home commissioner also informed that the government of Nagaland has extended the existing guidelines with regard to the lockdown in all parts of Nagaland up to July 31.
