Kohima, July 8 (EMN):
With the spiralling of Covid-19 cases in the state capital, the Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) has appealed to the state government to declare total lockdown within the Kohima municipalities for at least 14 days.

AKMWP, in a letter issued by its president Neibulie Kiewhuo and general secretary Thejao Sekhose, made this appeal to the government for a total lockdown for at least 14 days as the spread of coronavirus infection has almost enter into community transmission mode.

It stated that AKMWP, being the guardian of Kohima wards panchayat, was concern for the welfare of all dwellers of Kohima town.

“Having taking trouble to safeguard our society and individuals for more than four months of lockdown, AKMWP feels another fourteen days of more stringent total lockdown for our safety will do good more than harm,” the letter read.

The association urged the government to declare and enforce total lockdown in Kohima for 14 days positively.

While confirming about the appeal, Kiewhuo informed this newspaper that AKMWP had made the appeal on the popular demand of the citizens of Kohima. He stated that the association had discussed with all the ward panchayat leaders of Kohima adding the appeal was made to the government as the fear of community transmission was tense among the residents in Kohima.
