DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 12

The Directorate of School Education (DSE) has issued a statement against ACAUT’s allegations that appeared in the local dailies on November 12.
Refuting to ACAUT’s allegation that the department had “duped” Hindi teachers by collecting an amount of Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,000 from Hindi graduate and undergraduate teachers respectively, Director Zaveyi Nyekha today clarified that the DSE had never issued any order to collect the said amount of money nor did it collect the same from any teacher at any point of time. He, therefore, asked ACAUT to substantiate the allegation of “daylight robbery” with proof and evidence so that disciplinary action may be initiated against the erring officer(s).
On the allegation that “DSE has siphoned off more than Rs 4.5 crore from aggrieved Hindi teachers through 10% monthly deduction under New Pension Scheme which has not been deposited into their PRAN card”, the DSE clarified that the New Pension Scheme (NPS) is a nationwide scheme for every employee appointed after January 1, 2010 where 10% of the basic pay and dearness allowance of an employee is deducted as a contribution towards their pension. These deductions are made through treasury challans and then deposited into the government account for the matching contribution to be made by the State government, the department explained. The records of these “sick and daring” deductions as alleged by ACAUT are available at the Directorate and the ACAUT is welcome to verify this matter at any point of time, the DSE said.
The department also requested ACAUT, thus far seen as a respected organization, to refrain from slander and public accusations before ascertaining the facts from departments concerned lest it loses its credibility.
