Capt. Kenguruse’s memorial unveiled in Jalukie

Parents of Captain N Kenguruse, Neiselie and Dinuo, along with Assam Rifles after unveiling the memorial at St. Xavier’s School, Jalukie, in Peren district on April 26.

Dimapur, April 28 (EMN): Memorial of Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous), was unveiled at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, in Peren district in a ceremony organised by the Assam Rifles in collaboration with Ahthibung Region Club (ARC) on April 26.

ARC vice chairman, Henpu Kuki, stated that Captain N Kenguruse was an alumnus of St. Xavier’s School, Jalukie, who completed his schooling on April 26, 1990. He was later commissioned as an officer into the Indian army on December 12, 1998, into 2 Rajputana Rifles.

He had laid down his life in service to the nation in the highest traditions of the Indian army during the Kargil war. Due to his indomitable courage and valour, the battalion was able to achieve one of the most daunting missions assigned to it. He was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the second highest award.

The memorial was unveiled by his parents Neiselie and Dinuo, who were the chief guests of the event. The unveiling ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Peren; DIG 6 Sector AR; Superintendent of Police, Peren; principal of St. Xavier’s School; and other dignitaries from the district administration, village heads of Jalukie, Athibung and Peren.

Students of St. Xavier’s School were present in large numbers during the unveiling ceremony and made the event lively with their participation. Wreaths were laid by the guests at the memorial and motivated young students in their speech to emulate the values displayed by Captain N Kenguruse of leadership, courage and service to the nation.

Neiselie Kenguruse, father of Capt. Neikezhakuo, motivated the students to study hard and never give up under any circumstances, which according to him, is the only way to achieve success. He also thanked the Assam Rifles and St. Xavier’s School for organising the event.

Also speaking on the occasion, DIG 6 Sector of Assam Rifles spoke about the courage and valour shown by Capt. N Kenguruse in living up to the traditions of Indian army and sacrificing his life during Operation Vijay in line of duty for the nation.

He lauded his parents for their guidance in enabling him succeed in life by providing quality education and making him a courageous leader.
