Painting competition held in Dimapur

Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): Nagaland Council for Child Welfare (NCCW), state branch of the ICCW Delhi, under the directorate of Social Welfare, conducted a national painting competition for the schools in Naga United Village, Nihoto Village, Diphupar Village, Old Showba Village and Seithekima Village under Dimapur district. The competition was conducted for children in the age group of 5-9 years and 10-16 years.
Altogether 50 students for the various schools participated in the competition held on November 10 at Highland Hall School in Naga United Village. The judges for the competition were V Phesao, renowned artist and the exhibition officer of the NEZCC, and Akup Buchem, senior artist attached with the NEZCC.
In the age group of 10-16 years category, Olongmeren Jamir, 12 years old Class VII students of the Government High School, United Naga village, won the first prize.

The second prize was won by Ms Kantsula, 12 years old Class VII students of Highland Hall School, United Naga village, and the third prize was won by Ms Temennaro, 12 years old Class VII students of Great Commission Higher Secondary School.
In the age group of 6-9 years category, the first prize was won by Tzutisen, nine years old Class III students of Great Commission Higher Secondary School, while the second prize was won by Ikali, eight years Class II students of Great Commission Higher Secondary School, and the third prize was won by Iloke, nine years old of Class III students of Highland Hall School.

NCC general secretary, Dr. P Ngully, informed that all the award winning paintings would be forwarded to the ICCW Delhi for the national level competition.
At the prize giving ceremony, T Merentsungba Aier, director of social welfare and NCCW president, congratulated all the students for their participation. He stated that the painting competition was held with dual objectives of creating aesthetic sense and heighten consciousness about harmony and beauty among children.
