Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): A one-day training programme on peace building for women leaders in Wokha was held at women association conference hall, Wokha, on November 16 with the participation of women leaders from various Khel.
During the programme, peace channel district coordinator of Wokha, Vincent Kikon delivered a keynote address, wherein he encouraged the mothers to take effective initiative in spreading peace in the society. He also urged the women leaders to come out of their comfort zone and work for a better society, keeping aside any differences.

The resource person of the programme, Lawrence, spoke on positive responsibilities as leaders, selfless attitude, communication skill, cooperation, team work, and tolerance. The resource person stated that the core concept of attaining positive peace was the ability to balance constructively every activity that comes in life. He further mentioned that peace is a process which should be followed up continuously without which it could lead to conflict and violence in the society.

The sub-divisional officer of Wokha, Lanusenla Longkumer, who was a special guest, spoke about the challenges and responsibilities of being a mother and a leader, in which they have to balance the different ways of life towards the family in particular and the society in general.

Longkumer said, “Peace comes from within, as such to spread peace in the society, first peace should come from individual perspectives.” She appreciated the peace channel saying that its good work has reached the society in different social institutions.

The district coordinator of Wokha, Vincent Kikon told Eastern Mirror that peace channel will be organising such events in different districts in the coming days. Their mission includes training women organisation for good governance, empowering women to transform society, and training the skills needed to impart peace among others.
