Minister for Roads & Bridges (R&B), Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu has rated Human Resource Development (HRD) as key for all round development and progress.
Laying the foundation stone for the new Bishop Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary Section Building at New Colony, Phek town, on Tuesday, the minister lauded the Catholic fraternity for introducing the school to ensure availability of quality education to the upcoming generation.
Terming the foundation day as a red letter day for the locals, Nienu expressed his confidence that people of the area would see positive change in a decades from now.
Recalling local’s desire for quality educational institute for past many years, the minister regretted that entry of Catholic school in the 1970’s was disallowed owing to people’s ignorance and misconception. He, however, expressed his gratitude to the Catholic fraternity on having finally realised the long felt need.
Bishop James Thopil, in his address, expressed hope that the new institute would cater to the need of the people and assist in fulfilling their dreams and aspirations.
While acknowledging the support extended by the public, the Bishop assured total commitment and dedication to ensure that the institute would grow to become a new center of learning. ‘The catholic church beliefs in reaching education to the people at their doorstep,’ he opined.
The minister also addressing the monthly DPDB meet at the DC’s conference hall encouraged officers not to cow down to anti-social elements. While acknowledging the prompt steps taken by the police and district administration to contain anti-social elements, he has stressed on the need to take bold decisions to protect the interest of the public.
‘We need to be action oriented,’ he said adding, enough is enough, we have to allow peace and prosperity to prevail.’
