8 students win NI Jamir award
Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): The 11th NI Jamir Academic Excellence Award programme organised by Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem on July 15 at Moluki, Merhulietsa, Kohima, with the Commissioner of Taxes, Asangba Chuba as the main speakers.
Asangba Chuba, in his address, described the recipients of the award as an honour and exhorted them that to achieve something we have to work harder. He asked the students to work honestly, to have motivation and advised the gathering not to escape from reality but be aware of the current situation. He mentioned that our social set up need a reformation and to replace the old system with a new one we have to remove the division within the society.
Retired Chief Secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir, while congratulating all the awardees, emphasised on hard work to achieve success in this competitive world.
Member of NI Jamir Trust Board, C Imtingzuk Longkumer, in his short address, described late NI Jamir as fatherly figure not only for the Aos but for the Nagas adding that the award may be the gateway for the future. He also requested the parents to spend quality time with their children.
NI Jamir Academic Excellence Award is given to 20 toppers among the Ao students in the HSLC examinations conducted by NBSE. The award includes Rs 10,000 cash and a certificate.
The recipients of 2017 NI Jamir Academic Excellence Award are Moamanen Jamir (10th Rank), Limatula Imchen (12th Rank), T Sentolila Lemtor (13th Rank), Nokingsangla Jamir (14th Rank), Temjeninla Jamir (16th Rank), Zuiner Jamir (18th Rank), Longsener Longkumer (19th Rank) and Okten Jamir (20th Rank).
So far 42 students have received the NI Jamir Academic Excellence Award till 2017.
