Kohima, May 27(EMN):
A total of 3710 comprising 2718 inter-state travellers and 992 inter-district travellers were screened till May 27 at the Kohima local ground.

Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Kohima, Kevingoto Kulnu, informed that inter-state travellers, who came for screening were mostly stranded migrant workers from Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and few from Rajasthan, Delhi and from southern states etc.

He stated that all the inter-state travellers have arranged their own tickets and transportation and came only for screening and acquiring permit. He mentioned that last week, people came randomly without tickets. He added that now “these people have already booked their own ticket and came for screening, they also come with their vehicle arrangement, and therefore we screened them and whichever vehicle they come with, we are providing them permit to travel till Dimapur gate.”

He informed that the inter-district movement has decreased and they are now focusing mainly on inter-state travellers. He also stated that most people from Assam are going by buses arranged by themselves. He added that people from other states are going by roads and by railways.
Screening of inter-state travellers and providing permit would eventually come to an end but till now there has been no cut-off given, he replied adding that for now they are entertaining everyone who comes.

“Numbers are dropping but there are still people coming. So as long as this people come for screening and seeking for inter-state movement, we are always here to help them,” he said.
