2nd state level indigenous games competition culminates

Kohima, April 9 (EMN): The 2nd state level indigenous games competition culminated on Friday at Indira Gandhi stadium in Kohima with the director of Youth Resources and Sports, Akumla Chuba gracing the closing ceremony as the special guest.

The director, speaking at the event while expressing her happiness seeing the successful completion of the two-day competition organised by the department of Youth Resources and Sports, she encouraged the participants to play games not just for the sake of the competition but to keep oneself healthy.

On the day two, greased bamboo climbing was held wherein, Shihoi Khuju from Zunheboto district climbed the pole in 49.84 second and emerged first position, while second position was begged by Thejanguzo Pfukha of Kohima district who climbed in 54.89 second. Limonthung Lotha from Wokha district climbed the pole in 2.36 minute and begged third position.

Meanwhile in Stilt Bamboo Race, Hika Z Zhimo finished the track in 15.53 seconds and won the first position. Tiawati Longchar from Mokochung finished in 17.45 second and stood second while Silmo from Tuensang district finished in 18 second stood third position.

The second edition of the competition was participated by eleven districts competing in tug of war for both men and women, cockfight, greased bamboo pole climbing and stilt bamboo pole climbing.
