DIMAPUR — Following the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation’s (ENPO) call for total bandh in all the districts under its jurisdiction, the Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS) has informed that the bandh would be enforced from 6 am to 6 pm in the entire Chang area on Friday.

In a letter to the Tuensang Deputy Commissioner, the CKS informed that students who are appearing the board examinations, the media, fire and emergency services, and talk team would be exempt from the purview of the bandh.

Cases of medical emergencies and weddings are also exempted, along with ENPO, tribal or frontal organisation leaders with valid ID issued by respective heads.

It may be mentioned that on March 5, the tribal bodies and frontal organisations of eastern Nagaland declared a ‘public emergency’ in all districts under their jurisdiction, with immediate effect and announced that it would impose a ‘dawn to dusk’ bandh on March 8, followed by intensive protests.

The eastern Nagaland region includes the six districts of Mon, Tuensang, Longleng, Kiphire, Shamator, and Noklak.

The declaration comes in response to the delay by the Government of India in settling the offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
