Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The two-day 10th edition of Sumi Chess Championship 2022 got underway at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur, on Friday.
An update informed that all together 30 players are taking part in the championship.
Director of Urban Ministry, Dimapur, Rev. Tokhezhe Kiba, the main guest of the inaugural ceremony, in his address drew an analogy between the game of chess and Christianity and said the traits, steps, tactics and moves involved in chess is similar to that of the Christian way of dealing with evils in daily life.
Rev. Kiba offered dedicatory prayer and declared the championship open.
President, Sumi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN), Inakhe Shiniho, delivered the presidential address.
On the occasion, SCAN also felicitated members Toikhu Awomi, Bovito Yepthomi and Pikuto Chishi for qualifying the arbiter, chess trainer/teacher exam conducted by All India Chess Federation (AICF).
