1 killed as Mokokchung-bound bus meets with accident

Dimapur, Dec. 20 (EMN): At least one person was killed and many injured after a Mokokchung-bound passenger bus met with an accident at Bornija under Barpathar police station of Karbi Anglong, Assam, on Monday evening, around 6:30 pm.

Sources said that four passengers, who were seriously injured, had been rushed to a nearby hospital in Bokajan while 10 were taken to Bokajan hospital. Some injured persons are also said to be undergoing treatment in Dimapur.

The accident happened after the bus, which was travelling from Dimapur to Mokokchung, was hit by a truck from behind, because of which the driver lose control and hit a parked truck, according to an eye witness of the accident.

The truck crashed into a tree after hitting the bus.

Nagaland police personnel, who were contacted by this newspaper, were not able to furnish details of the accident at the time of filing of this report.
