Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): Advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs and chairman of Dimapur DPDB, Zhaleo Rio, advocated more focus on pandemic situation, revival of economy and outreach programme in the uncovered areas.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the Dimapur district planning and development board (DPDB) held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office on September 2, Rio highlighted the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on health, education and economy sectors of the state. He, however, lauded the Dimapur district administration, Health and Family Welfare department, and district task force (DTF) for putting in their best efforts in the fight against the pandemic, a DIPR report stated.

Noting that DTF Dimapur is doing remarkably well in every aspect, he impressed upon all the departments to continue rendering their services to mitigate the apprehension about the 3rd wave.

He also expressed happiness at the high percentage of vaccination coverage (more than 80%) and further encouraged to conduct more awareness campaigns to achieve 100% vaccination.

Presenting the Covid situation in Dimapur, the chief medical officer (CMO) of Dimapur, Dr. Moa Jamir, informed that Covid positive cases stood at 337 with 301 under home isolation. He added that 16 Covid patients are admitted at District hospital Dimapur, while 19 at CIHSR Dimapur and one patient at Covid care centre, New DC’s complex.

He also informed that from January to August this year, total of 72905 underwent Covid test out of which 7412 were found positive taking the positivity rate to 10.2%.

EE of electrical division, Dimapur, informed that the department would start implementing a pre-paid metering system in all the offices, towers and quarters. Observing that Nagas are not used to paying electric bills, he pointed out that with the introduction of pre-paid metering system, citizens would realise judicious use of power thereby assuring power stability in the long run. He, therefore, sought cooperation from the officers especially the police during implementation of the new system.

Meanwhile, the Dimapur commissioner of police, Rothihu Tetseo, assured full cooperation in terms of manpower to the department. Tetseo also suggested an underground wiring system or using sealed wires in order to avoid power theft.

While appreciating the department’s initiative for a pre-paid metering system, Rio reminded the department to ensure accurate and correct billing.
