Dimapur, Dec. 15 (EMN): Advisor of Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio inaugurated a new building of Dhansiripar sub-division GBs’ Union on December 15.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Rio complimented the united efforts of everyone concerned in the successful completion of the new complex within a stipulated time. He also urged the people to practice austerity measures in their daily lives, an update from the media secretary of NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC Thejangukho Yalietsu stated on Tuesday.

Rio has termed the public of Dhansiripar ‘lucky’ to receive the facility under MPLADP 2018-19 despite the constituency never received such an opportunity. He further requested the authority to properly utilise and maintain its upkeep for the welfare of the subdivision.

Stating that Gaon buras (GBs) are the custodians of customary practices, Rio noted that the term was introduced by the Britishers and conferred the title on respectable people of villages based on age and experience rooted in culture, leadership capability, meritorious qualities etc.

“Being the custodians of our customs and culture, our GBs should strive to unite people and deliver unbiased justice on all fronts which can bring manifold blessings,” remarked Rio, while urging Gaonburas to remain vigilant against any anti-social elements in their respective villages since they are “the eyes and ears of the government.”

On the Naga political issue, Rio opined that “Nagas are no less than a divided house with so many organisations having different wishes and principles” as evident from the failure to make a breakthrough in the negotiations till today. In this regard, Rio cautioned that divisive policies would always continue to be stumbling blocks unless Nagas unite and speak together as one people.

The inaugural programme was moderated by Lovitoli Swu, while Fainesdao Naben, pastor of Dimasa Baptist Church Dhansiripar, pronounced the invocation.

P Dohoi Swu, Head GB of Pimla and president of Dhansiripar sub-division GBs’ Union, delivered the welcome address, while T Rio, Head GB of Razhaphe village, presented the construction report.

Atula and Among enthralled the gathering with a song, while short speeches were delivered by SDO (Civil) Dhansiripar and Joydhwas Hasnu, chairman of Dhansiripar village council. Tshithrongse, Head GB, delivered the vote of thanks and pastor of UBC Dhansiripar pronounced the benediction.
