Zeliang Students Union Nagaland halts second phase of agitation to allow dialogue
DIMAPUR — The Zeliang Students Union Nagaland (ZLSU) announced a temporary halt to its planned second phase of agitation, stating that this reflects the union’s commitment to constructive dialogue with educational authorities regarding urgent issues affecting government schools in Peren due to the recent rationalisation.
In a press statement, the union said that the ZLSU is committed to seeking constructive solutions and believes that pausing the second phase will allow for further dialogue with officials to address the demands surrounding teacher retention or replacement effectively.
“The union is hopeful that our proactive approach will lead to positive changes in the district’s government established schools,” it read.
Stating that although it is halting this phase of action, it remains committed to engaging with education authorities to ensure that voices are heard and the needs of students are prioritised.
“The ZLSU will continue to keep the community informed of developments and remain focused on its current initiatives to improve educational standards in Peren district. This temporary pause reflects the union’s strategic approach to ensuring that its actions lead to the desired outcomes for all students,” it concluded.
