Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang has lauded Catholic Church organizations for their ‘great contribution towards education in Nagaland.’ Speaking at the Golden Jubilee of All Saints Higher Secondary School in Peren on Saturday, November 21, Zeliang said the Catholic Church is a pioneer in providing quality education in Nagaland.
According to the politician, All Saints Higher Secondary School ‘has done invaluable service to the people of Peren district, having nurtured and moulded many students to become successful citizens.’ Many important people working in various fields within and outside the state are the products of the school, he said.
Also encouraging the principal and staff members, he said ‘remember that service to humanity is service to God’ and he hoped that the school will continue the good work, and help parents in giving the best gift they can give to their children.’
He also recalled memories with his wife, who is also an alumnus. This school is our real alma mater, ‘with which we are linked umbilically and emotionally,’ he said.
Later in the afternoon, he inaugurated Mpai Namci village in Peren.
TR Zeliang harps clichéd culture chorus
“Our forefather needed no administrative control from outside but our Indigenous cultures and Traditions were enough to take care of our village and inter village relationship smoothly and peacefully,” according to Chief Minister TR Zeliang. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating Mpai Namci village.
‘Villages co-existed peacefully and that our Tradition played a vital role on the life of the village people. We should uphold and preserve our good culture and Traditions even in this generation’, he claimed.
While congratulating the village functionaries for withstanding ‘so many hurdles since 1964 after establishment of the village,’ Zeliang said that the villagers could finally see the light of day. ‘It is the beginning of responsibility,’ he stated.
Deputy Commissioner of Peren district, Peter Lichamo also congratulated the people of the village for getting a formal recognition of the village from the government of Nagaland.
