Nagaland Deputy CM insists on improving human resources for growth

DIMAPUR— Deputy Chief Minister in-charge of Planning and Transformation and National Highway, TR Zeliang, has insisted on improvement of human resources index for any state to grow economically and concurred that it could be achieved only with the improvement in healthcare system and sufficiently catering to the medical needs of the people.

Zeliang stated this during the launch of integrated health camp held in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office in Peren on Tuesday. He stated that integrated health campaign is being launched in many countries to reach out to the maximum number of people through timely intervention to control, prevent and eradicate diseases.

He has termed the launch of integrated health campaign in Peren district as significant, which was initiated at the right time stating that the pilot programme was first of its kind in the whole state and second in the country after Namsa district in Arunachal Pradesh, stated a DIPR report.

He has appreciated the Medical department, especially the officers involved in making the programme a reality. He expressed hope that the campaign would greatly alleviate the problems faced by people from far-flung areas and those with little or no access to medical facilities and also help in preventing and eliminating various ailments at the right time.

Short speeches were also delivered by the deputy director of NACO, Dr. Saiprasad, and the commissioner and secretary of Health department, Y Kikheto Sema.

The programme was chaired by the CMO of Peren, Dr. Limatula, while the vote of thanks was proposed by the project director of NSACS, Dr. Akuo Sorhie.

Later, Zeliang chaired the meeting of Peren district planning and development board (DPDB), wherein the house deliberated on creation of a new health sub-centre in Poilwa Namzidang village; re-posting of EAC at Pedi, reviewed the HSLC and HSSLC results and adopted schools by the departments.

In the meeting, the department of Horticulture and Co-operation made powerpoint presentation of their departmental activities.
