ZBLF Kiphire holds second annual general meeting

DIMAPUR — The Zikeh Block Level Federation (ZBLF) in Kiphire district held its second annual general meeting at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall on Tuesday with the participation of self help groups (SHG) from 22 villages, Agri and allied departments and invitees.

An update stated that district horticulture officer (DAO), Senti Longchar, in his address, called upon the SHG members to learn from each other in order to boost the district’s economy and improve livelihoods.

While assuring support to the federation, the DAO said, “We need to work hard and get ourselves involved to be self-sustainable.”

Temsunungsang, branch manager of Nagaland State Cooperative Bank (NStCB), Kiphire, disclosed that the district branch made a profit of INR 39 lakh in 2023 and that this year the profit has increased to INR 66 lakh. He attributed the achievement to the involvement of SHG with the bank.

The district project officer of Land Resources department, Lipichem, exhorted the SHG members to be sincere, dedicated and hard working in order to achieve their goals. Sharing his observation, he said that the district is rich in resources, be it agricultural or natural resources, and urged the members to take advantage of the resources to uplift the economy of the district.

He suggested that sharing of knowledge, experience and learning should take place through such meetings and called upon the members not only to focus on economic growth but also social growth, peace and harmony through the platform of the federation.

Kiphire block programme manager, Ripise, in his keynote address, informed that there are 195 SHG with 1515 members enrolled with the federation. He also presented the PPT of various works and activities of the SHGs.

Esther Francis Sangtam from Linsi SHG Anatongre and Sethsala from Kisetong SHG also shared their experiences.

Shawuh Village Level Organisation (VLO), Pungrungru village, Anatongre VLO, Kiphire VLO and Phelungre VLO presented songs and folk songs.

In the business session, the block level federation resolutions and audit report were also discussed.
