Dimapur — Yimkhiung Union Kohima (YUK) has vehemently condemned the ‘outrageous and barbaric act’ of sexual assault perpetrated upon a minor girl of five years from its community by an unidentified individual in the evening of July 9 in Tsiesema under Kohima district.

It was reported that the unidentified rapist lured the minor child away and committed the shameful and heinous crime and abandoned her in a nearby ditch in immense pain and at the mercy of her own fate. It was by sheer luck that the victim’s neighbours found her in a critical condition.

The union stated that the neighbours and her parents reported the matter to the police and was later hospitalised at NHAK.

The union, while acknowledging the tireless efforts being undertaken by the law enforcing agency, appealed to leave no stone unturned and apprehend the criminal to ensure justice to the traumatised child and her family as per the law of the land.

The union also expressed gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of NHAK for timely medical attention administered to the victim.

It further called upon all right-thinking individuals, societies and communities to condemn such an inhuman act.
