Kohima, Oct. 27 (EMN): In a major boost to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, and NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak, a prominent youth, Vevoyi D Vadeo, on Thursday announced to join the party.
Sources confirmed to Eastern Mirror that a former president of Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) and prominent youth leader along with his team had joined the ‘Globe’ party in Pfutsero town under Phek district. The political development has come as a major boost to the NDPP of 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency (AC).
The announcement was made few hours ahead of the NDPP president’s tour to Phek region, wherein Konyak was slated to inaugurate NDPP Phek region office building-cum-party leaders meeting at Phek town hall later in the afternoon. It was informed that Vadeo along with hundreds of party workers from various political parties of 17th Chizami AC joined the party in the presence of NDPP president and host of other NDPP central and regional leaders in Pfutsero town.
While the names and designations have not been divulged till now, sources said the party workers who joined the NDPP consisted of members from NPF, BJP, RPP and NPP as well.
NPF legislator, Khezhienyi Khalo, is the sitting MLA of the Chizami AC since 2018.
Meanwhile, Vevoyi D Vadeo said his joining to the party was to strengthen the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, and NDPP president, Chingwang Konyak.
In his speech, NDPP president stated that the party was formed in May 2017 and had faced the election through a seat sharing with the BJP party and formed the government. He has assured stable government in the state for prosperity and development and exuded hope that the alliance between the NDPP-BJP would strengthen and fulfill the aspirations of the people.
He also welcomed the newcomers and acknowledged them for coming forward to join the NDPP party. He further exhorted the party men and women to have accommodative spirit and think for the welfare and interest of Phek district and Nagas.
