Yimchalu village set to host Nagaland photography festival

MOKOKCHUNG — Yimchalu village in Mokokchung district is set to host the 3rd edition of Nagaland Photography Festival from September 19 to the 21st with the participation of about 300 photographers both from domestic and mainland India.

The festival is being organised by the Photography Club Dimapur, in collaboration with Yimchalu village. The primary aim of the festival was to promote tourism and showcase the rich tapestry of Mokokchung’s history, culture and natural beauty.

Highlighting about the event, Meyisanger Lemtur, festival convener, on July 23 disclosed that apart from photography, the organising committee has planned a variety of activities.

He informed that international camera companies such as Canon, Nikon and Lumix would organise workshops and provide services throughout the festival. He added that photography enthusiasts would have the opportunity to learn from renowned international photographers.

Lemtur also informed that more than 30 artistes are scheduled to perform over the three nights. Besides, that there would also be cosplay, cultural display, photo exhibition, photography contest, kids’ corner, airsoft, stall, automotive display, workshop and seminar to light up the festival atmosphere.

He added that this year’s festival would also feature several new activities such as futsal tournament, angling and promotion and introduction of darts game by Nagaland Darts Association.

The festival promises both photographers and visitors a unique blend of artistic expression and cultural celebration in the picturesque setting of Yimchalu village, he added.
