Yhunshalo scores double hat-trick as New Market thrash Colt United

DEF Kohima, Barak FC and IGAR(N) enters Quarter Final

In yet another big margin win for New Market, the two-time champions and four-time runners-up, Yhunshalo Kemp (9) scored a record double hat-trick to place his team in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 20th Classic Cup 2014 at Kohima Local Ground along with District Executive Force (DEF) Kohima, former champions Barak Football Club and IGAR(North).
Playing last pre-quarter final match of the tourney, New Market humiliated Colt United Boyz by 9-0. It was Yhunshalo not just opening the flood gates but giving the team the first three leads with his second hat-trick and tenth of the tourney within the first half, which was sealed by Kekhrieletuo with the fourth goal.After lemon break too, it was the scoring maniac adding his fourth and fifth for the team while Kekhrieletuo added his second and sixth of the team. Achamo Shitiri increased the tally to seventh while Yhunshalo sealed the score board with his fifth and sixth (double hat-trick) enhancing the margin to nine goals.
This is the second highest scoring game for New Market after spanking Invictus FC by 11-0 in the second round match. There too Yhunshalo had scored five goals and clubbed with today’s six, he is now the highest scorer with 11 goals.
Earlier, playing the second match of the day, former champs Barak FC also lived upto their fame by knocking Addax Club by 6-0 with Ratobe scoring the ninth hat-trick of the tournament. Ratobe scored the second, fourth and fifth goals while Aloumei scored first, Nyinthong Magh third and Tepongmeren Kichu netted the sixth goal.
In a close shave match, DEF Kohima defeated Orion FC 2-1 during the first match of the day. DThe uniformed personnel found the lead in through Lithungbemo and held it up until the lemon break. But, Orion FC returned to the game with the equalizer in the breather half through Chisie Nyousou. However, Lithungbemo managed to give the winning strike with his second goal.
In the third match of the day, HQ IGAR(North) knocked A. Yhome FC by 2-0. Both sides ended in a disappointing goalless draw in the first half but AI Singh and Demo contributed the two goals for the army players.
Today’s winners will be clashing in the quarter-final matches on September 2 as follows: New Market vs HQ IGAR(N) @ 1:00 pm and Barak FC vs DEF Kohima @ 3:00 pm.
