DIMAPUR — The Yimkhiung Akherü Arihako (YAA) directed and empowered all the YAA federating units to strictly implement YAA Federal Assembly Resolution No. 18 (Act 2022) that prohibits the engagement of proxy teachers within the concerned respective jurisdictions (towns and villages).

The YAA mentioned in a press statement that it received complaints that various teachers posted at various government schools under the Yimkhiung jurisdiction have been neglecting to perform their duties efficiently.

It stated that, according to the complaints, some have not been at the place of posting since the beginning of the current academic session, while others have engaged proxy teachers, “which is unequivocally a ‘deliration of duty’ as a public servant, and moreso, it is an act that absolutely oppresses the students’ pursuits of quality education, and these further unquestionably endanger the educational system at large, which the YAA shall not tolerate under any circumstances.”

YAA mentioned that, taking cognizance of the matters, it issued the directive and further empowered all the YAA federating units to keep a check on teachers’ performance of duty and take action on the defaulter as deemed fit, or it can be forwarded to the YAA office for further necessary proceedings.

“Therefore, to protect, safeguard, and promote the rights and interests of the students’ community and further establish justice, the YAA hereby directs all the government teachers posted in schools within the Yimkhiung jurisdiction to be at the place of posting on or before April 8, 2024, and discharge duties unfailingly,” it said.

It added that thereafter, if and when any teacher is found or reported to be defaulting on the office directive, “a befitting course of action will be taken, and any repercussions thereof will solely be the responsibility of the defaulter.”
