WSYF urges Kuki and Meitei communities to shun violence

Western Sumi Youth Front has appealed to the Kuki and Meitei communities of Manipur to shun violence to restore peace and normalcy in the state

DIMAPUR — Western Sumi Youth Front (WSYF) has appealed to the Kuki and Meitei communities of Manipur to shun violence and refrain from indulging in any form of provocative acts in order to restore peace and normalcy in the state.

Stating that any form of problems and issues could be solved through peaceful dialogue, WSYF has urged both the communities to sit together and hammer out the differences in the larger interest of the state. WSYF also urged the state and central governments to sincerely place mechanism to sort out the differences between two communities so that people of Manipur could live in peace and tranquility.

A WSYF press release issued by its media cell also urged the Kukis and Meiteis living in Sumi areas of  Dimapur, Niuland and Chümoukedima to remain calm and refrain from intra-community skirmishes. It added that any sort of violence perpetrated by individual, group or community would not be tolerated and could lead to expulsion from the above mentioned areas.

Meanwhile, WSYF has strongly condemned the act of vandalising the good office of Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on May 27 stating that such uncivilised act has no place in the present society.

WSYF further appealed to the government to take necessary and befitting action against the culprits and settle the issue pertaining to NSF office at Naga Club building at the earliest.
