Workshop on segregation of waste held at Yingli Government College
DIMAPUR — The NSS Wing of Yingli Government College (YGC), Longleng, in collaboration with the Environment Education Programme (EEP), Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), organised a sustainable lifestyle workshop on ‘Practice of segregation of dry and wet waste’ at the college’s Borgohain Hall on October 25.
The workshop featured presentations by Y Hanpong Konyak, junior scientific asst., NPCB, who spoke on ‘Mission life’ and Khriehunuo Rutsa, programme officer, NPCB on ‘Solid waste management,’ the college stated in a press release.
The workshop covered a wide aspect on threats and challenges posed by solid waste, including single use plastics, industrial waste, hazardous materials and household refuse highlighting their impact on both the environment and public health.
“The workshop underscored the urgent need for social and behavioural change at multiple levels to achieve positive outcomes in solid waste management and effective waste segregation,” it stated.
Earlier, principal of Yingli College, Dr. T Temsu Imti delivered the welcome address.
