Workshop on capacity building held at NU: SAS
DIMAPUR — The inaugural of the three-day faculty development programme and ICT workshop on capacity building in School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS: NU) for all faculty of NU: SAS and NU: SET campuses was held at library conference hall, NU: SAS, Medziphema, on Monday.
The theme of the programme, sponsored by the National Institute of Education Planning and Administration, New Delhi, was ‘Design, develop and develop online/blended learning courses,’ an update stated.
The resource person for the programme was K Srinivas, head of ICT and Project Management Unit of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ministry of Education Institution, New Delhi.
In his address, Srinavas briefed about the workshop and said that it is a part of the NEP 2020 requirement of GoI.
He also mentioned that the three-day workshop will include hands-on-learning, with the aim of creating exposure to virtual learning environments for better pedagogical approaches.
The objective of the programme is to create an environment for better planning, designing, and delivering online courses and to adopt active, communicative and collaborative tools for better teaching and learning.
An effective teaching-learning process in a blended environment calls for understanding and skills in using appropriate pedagogies with suitable technologies, he said.
“Blended learning is a meaningful blend of offline (face-to-face) and online learning environments,” he added.
Srinavas also emphasised the importance of making learning interesting, meaningful and applicable in real-life situations for students.
Earlier, L Daiho, dean of SAS: NU, highlighted the importance of blended learning and the need for all faculty members to be updated and skilled in this field.
Altogether, 63 faculty members registered for the workshop. The programme was chaired by J Longkumar.
