Dimapur, March 2 (EMN):
Miglat Ministry, a social ministry under the aegis of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme ‘An equal world is an enabled world’ in collaboration with the Seluophe/Singrijan and Khopanala village councils, and churches, youth and student groups on March 2 at Seluophe in Dimapur. The event will conclude on March 7.

On the first day of the programme, a weaving workshop of the Tata Trust implemented by the Neida (North East Initiative Development Agency) was conducted for participants of around 25 women from the Miglat Ministry, Seluophe/Singrijan and Khopanala village areas.

The Neida representative said the training is being given to ‘revive weaving traditions as it is disappearing and to make it profitable in the market for the people.’ The participants will receive assistance in their work even after training, it was informed.

According to the organisers, the training and a need-based workshop will be conducted for six days catering to different sections of the community, and culminating with a ‘spring fest celebration’ on March 7 that will have stalls, music and cultural presentations. The advisor for Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio, has consented to be part of the event as its special guest. Rev. Dr. Wati Aier will be the speaker, it was informed.
