Nagaland: Wokha tops in TB intervention programme

Dimapur, Feb. 4 (EMN): Wokha ranked top among other districts in overall performance in tuberculosis intervention programme followed with Mon and Kiphire districts. Peren and Phek were ranked lowest performing districts.

This was disclosed by Dr. Collins Z Sono, WHO medical consultant, during an annual review meeting of National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) held in IDSP conference hall of Directorate of Health and Family Welfare in Kohima on February 3. Dr. Collins informed that Wokha district ranked first in overall performance followed by Mon and Kiphire districts for the year 2021.  He added that Longleng and Kiphire district are performing well in TB notification. He informed that Peren and Phek are ranked lowest performing districts, stated an update from NTEP Nagaland.

Dr. Collins also informed that Kiphire, Mon and Wokha districts were ranked best in universal drug susceptibility testing (UDST 2021) offered among TB patients.

The state TB officer, Dr. Tiasunup Pongener, welcomed everyone and encouraged them to work harder in order to achieve the programme’s targets and indicators. 

Meanwhile, Dr. I Talitemsula Jamir, NHM mission director, has appreciated NTEP for conducting review meeting regularly and stressed on the importance of state nodal agency (SNA), which is a new financial system. She reminded all to work in close co-ordination with the NHM-DAM for any issue at the district-level. She further encouraged DTO and staff to put in more efforts for TB elimination in Nagaland.
